Showing Traffic Declined Across the U.S. in March<\/h2>\n

March saw a 7.2 percent year-over-year drop across the U.S.; the decline was sharpest in the West with a 17.2 percent drop compared to the same time last year.<\/em><\/h6>\n

The promise that March would see an uptick in home showing traffic in the traditionally busy spring
selling season went unrealized as activity continued the trend of year-over-year declines, according to the latest data from the ShowingTime Showing Index<\/a> \u00ae .<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Buyer traffic slowed for the eighth consecutive month in the U.S. compared to the same time last year, with activity down 7.2 percent. The West Region was the hardest hit by the continued lag, recording a 17.2 percent drop in year-over-year showing activity. The West has now experienced a full year of declining traffic compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cActivity has picked up across the board, though showing traffic is still slower than this time last year,\u201d said ShowingTime Chief Analytics Officer Daniil Cherkasskiy. \u201cMarch was a lot more active compared to February, which could be attributed to the decrease in mortgage rates,\u201d he said. \u201cSpecifically, we\u2019re seeing that the lower two pricing quartiles of the market haven&#39;t slowed down year over year; rather, it&#39;s the higher-end homes that have had less traffic.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The ShowingTime Showing Index, the first of its kind in the residential real estate industry, is compiled using data from property showings scheduled across the country on listings using ShowingTime products and services, providing a benchmark to track buyer demand. ShowingTime<\/a> facilitates more than four million showings each month.<\/p>\n

Released monthly, the Showing Index tracks the average number of appointments received on active listings during the month.
