The transcript below has been lightly edited for length and clarity:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tracey Velt:<\/strong> You&#8217;re especially passionate about education and helping black individuals and families acquire the American dream of homeownership. So let&#8217;s talk a little bit about some of those actions that you think are necessary and some of the initiatives that you&#8217;re supporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lydia Pope:<\/strong> One of our pillars is our government relations and advocacy. We speak with our congressional folks when whenever we have our State of Housing in Black America, we always invite our congressional leaders just so that they can hear what&#8217;s happening within the black community and support us on any legislation that we&#8217;re looking to put out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another part of dealing with that is student loan debt, downpayment assistance, appraisal biases, and then definitely working on the loan level pricing and credit. We&#8217;re going to Congress, we&#8217;re speaking with our voices, we&#8217;re talking about policies, we&#8217;re supporting some of the policies. It&#8217;s very important for us that we have to have the voice of black homeownership and black community. What we do as an organization is how we work with all of our local boards and that&#8217;s gonna be happening in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The\u00a0RealTrending podcast features the brightest minds in real estate.
