After becoming a National Association of Minority Mortgage Bankers of America<\/strong> (NAMMBA)<\/strong>-accredited social impact lender<\/a> in March, Howard Hanna Mortgage Services recently created a community lending department dedicated to supporting underserved communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanna recently named LaMarcus Thurman as the Vice President of Community Lending. This newly created position will focus on the community lending efforts of Howard Hanna Mortgage Services<\/strong> and its affiliated mortgage companies across a 13-state footprint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement, \u201cWe are thrilled to welcome LaMarcus to Howard Hanna Mortgage Services,\u201d said F. Duffy Hanna, President of Howard Hanna Financial Services. \u201cHis expertise in the industry will be invaluable to the future of our community lending program throughout the region and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thurman has more than a decade of experience in the banking and mortgage industry and has held roles at Fifth Third Bank<\/strong>, The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton<\/strong>, Citizens Bank<\/strong>, and in his most recent position as Assistant Vice President in the Southwest Region at Northwest Bank<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe key to successful community lending in underserved markets is to have staff with the requisite and relatable skill sets, along with the resilience necessary to excel in this transitory housing market environment,\u201d said Dr. Howard B. Slaughter, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh and Chairman of the Howard Hanna Children\u2019s Free Care Fund. \u201cLaMarcus is the embodiment of what it takes to focus, pursue, and achieve these objectives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March 2022, NAMMBA announced that Howard Hanna Mortgage Services was the first lender to earn the NAMMBA certification as an Accredited Social Impact Lender (ASIL).
