Williams\u2019s appoint will be in effect on July 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDawanna has more than 20 years of experience in the real estate industry and a background that spans both real estate law and business,\u201d CEO Robert Reffkin said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Williams is the founder and managing principal or real estate development firm <strong>Dabar Development Partners<\/strong>. In addition, she currently serves on the boards of <strong>ACRES Commercial Realty Corp.<\/strong>, <strong>Focus Impact Acquisition Corp<\/strong>., the <strong>New York Real Estate Chamber<\/strong>, the <strong>Apollo Theater<\/strong>, and <strong>The Trust For Cultural Resources of The City Of New York.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before founding Dabar, Williams practiced commercial real estate law for 10 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTheir practical, solutions-driven approach to business coupled with their strong leadership team makes this position an ideal fit for me and I look forward to joining the Compass Board at this exciting time in our industry,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This announcement comes a little over two weeks after Compass <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.realtrends.com\/blog\/articles\/compass-lays-off-450-halts-trading-on-nyse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">laid off 450 employees<\/a> and closed <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.realtrends.com\/blog\/articles\/bleeding-cash-compass-closes-8-california-offices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eight offices<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Compass appointed real estate veteran Dawanna Williams to its board of directors this week.
