{"id":3277,"date":"2022-06-27T21:10:47","date_gmt":"2022-06-27T21:10:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/preprod.realtrends.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/27\/the-beat-goes-on-another-executive-bolts-keller-williams\/"},"modified":"2025-03-13T02:44:31","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T02:44:31","slug":"the-beat-goes-on-another-executive-bolts-keller-williams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/preprod.realtrends.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/27\/the-beat-goes-on-another-executive-bolts-keller-williams\/","title":{"rendered":"The beat goes on: Another executive bolts Keller Williams"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The game of executive musical chairs plays on at <strong>Keller Williams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gary Keller fired off an email to employees Friday announcing Tony Rogers is out as chief growth officer of <strong>kwx<\/strong>, the holding company for the Keller Williams network of brokerage franchisees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move comes three months after Rogers&#8217; arrival, and three weeks after Carl Liebert <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.realtrends.com\/blog\/articles\/ceo-carl-liebert-leaves-keller-williams-effective-immediately\/\">stepped down<\/a> as CEO of kwx, with no replacement named.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A replacement for Rogers also was not announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the company announced Monica Reynolds, vice president of Keller Williams\u2019 MAPS Coaching, is to retire. Jen Davis, co-owner of Keller Williams Missouri franchisee <strong>Holt Homes Group<\/strong>, was announced to replace Reynolds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inman News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inman.com\/2022\/06\/24\/keller-williams-chief-growth-officer-abruptly-resigns-after-just-3-months\/\">first reported<\/a> on the departure of Rogers, who is the former Chief Member Officer of <strong>Sam&#8217;s Club<\/strong> and who worked for Walmart for 17 years. On his <strong>LinkedIn<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/tonyrogers1\/\">Rogers lists Walmart\u2019s headquarters<\/a> of Bentonville, Arkansas as his locale. A message left with Rogers on LinkedIn Monday was not immediately returned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keller Williams spokesperson Daryl Frost in an email wrote the company is \u201cexploring the possible evolution of our relationship with Tony as a consultant or similar role, so Keller Williams continues benefiting from his expertise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asked why Rogers departed, Frost said Keller Williams \u201chad nothing further to add.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keller Williams announced the appointment of Rogers in a March press release, which contained many of his job responsibilities. Rogers was to \u201caccelerate growth across the kwx ecosystem of companies via strategic marketing, branding and communications-driven innovation and initiatives,\u201d according to the release. Rogers was quoted in the news release as saying he was, \u201cInstantly drawn to the people, culture and vision at Keller Williams. Like so many industries, real estate is being radically transformed by technology. And I am excited to have the opportunity to lean further into the disruption as we continue to position for aggressive growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residential real estate companies are <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.realtrends.com\/blog\/articles\/bleeding-cash-compass-closes-8-california-offices\/#:~:text=Compass%20closed%20eight%20offices%20as,according%20to%20a%20company%20spokesperson.\">locked in a continual struggle<\/a> to find the right mix of investment in agents and technology, without spending too much in a low-margin business. Leadership changes are commonplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, Keller Williams has had a recent series of leadership twists and turns, which kicked off in October 2020. That\u2019s when Gary Keller said he would step down as CEO of Keller Williams and announced the creation of kwx.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keller bequeathed to Keller Williams president Josh Team, \u201call duties and responsibilities previously held by Keller.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By February 2021, though, Team was out, <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.housingwire.com\/articles\/josh-team-out-as-keller-williams-president\/\">putting a resignation note<\/a> on his personal Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An internal hire, Marc King, <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.housingwire.com\/articles\/kw-president-marc-king-on-gary-keller-social-unrest\/\">was picked to replace Team<\/a>, and report to Liebert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The timing of Liebert\u2019s departure is unclear. In a statement at the time, Gary Keller thanked him for \u201chis sincere hard work\u201d and for providing leadership and experience \u201cat a critical moment in our history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liebert has worn many executive hats, including a brief stint as CEO of <strong>AutoNation<\/strong>. Upon his kwx resignation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autonews.com\/executives\/carl-liebert-out-keller-williams-after-another-short-stint-ceo\">Automotive News wrote<\/a>, \u201cCarl Liebert\u2019s career in the real estate business lasted just 20 months.
