He is alluding to <strong>Compass<\/strong> CEO Robert Reffkin, who failed to deliver on a stated goal to have 20% market share in 20 major American markets by 2020. Samson has a different business model and branding than Compass, but both brokerages identify as \u201cagent-centric.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samson is so <a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.realtrends.com\/blog\/samson-properties-shares-brokerage-growth-secrets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agent-centric<\/a>, in fact, that its agents receive a 100% commission split and services like training, office desks, and help with marketing. In return, the Samson agent is asked \u2013 not told, asked \u2013 to refer clients to <strong>Cardinal Title Group<\/strong>, a title insurer wholly owned by Samson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI try to kill them with kindness,\u201d Samson said, giving agents \u201cthe resources to build that relationship\u201d with Cardinal Title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From one perspective, the U.S. real estate agent is in peril. The <strong>Department of Justice Antitrust Division<\/strong> is in its ninth month of a broad inquiry into what consumers pay on real estate commissions, which DOJ officials<a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.housingwire.com\/articles\/is-nar-ready-to-rumble-with-doj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> appear to think<\/a> is too much. DOJ<a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.housingwire.com\/articles\/policing-the-pocket-listings-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> has swooped<\/a> into lawsuits against the <strong>National Association of Realtors<\/strong> and top brokerage firms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But RealTrends\u2019 recently<a href=\"https:\/\/www1.realtrends.com\/rankings\/real-trends-500-by-volume-2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> unveiled list<\/a> of the top brokerages in the country, for which Samson is 19<sup>th<\/sup> by sales volume, revealed a different outlook. The fastest-growing brokerages, from<a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.housingwire.com\/articles\/we-read-compasss-10k-so-you-dont-have-to\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> full-service outfits like Compass<\/a> to companies like Samson, <strong>Fathom Realty<\/strong>, and <strong>United Real Estate<\/strong>, businesses that RealTrends\u2019 senior advisor Steve Murray call \u201clow-cost brokerage models,\u201d give agents more commission money and more services than five or 10 years ago with less upfront fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samson Properties is perhaps the ultimate example of the agent \u2013<a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.housingwire.com\/articles\/the-100-years-war-over-real-estate-commissions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> feared to be left for dead<\/a> \u2013 seemingly in the driver\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDonny Samson has been transparent about what he\u2019s doing,\u201d said Don Gurney, a longtime <strong>Century 21<\/strong> broker in Pasadena, Maryland, who has observed Samson Properties\u2019 regional rise. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be interesting to see how he keeps making it without hitting a wall.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-differentiator\"><strong>The differentiator<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Donny Samson\u2019s father, Danny Samson, founded Samson Properties in Chantilly, Virginia, in 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy dad and a few of his buddies wanted to start a company where they played by their own rules,\u201d Donny Samson recalled. \u201cWhat my dad had was a passion for recruiting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&lt;&lt;&lt;Article continued on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.housingwire.com\/articles\/cardinals-of-a-different-feather-inside-samson-properties-unique-model\/#\">HousingWire.com<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/preprod.housingwire.com\/articles\/knock-raises-220m-lays-off-46-of-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This article was originally published by HousingWire.
