{"id":2798,"date":"2022-01-27T16:57:34","date_gmt":"2022-01-27T16:57:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/preprod.realtrends.com\/blog\/2022\/01\/27\/two-formidable-indie-brokerages-in-new-england-merge\/"},"modified":"2025-03-13T02:40:04","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T02:40:04","slug":"two-formidable-indie-brokerages-in-new-england-merge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/preprod.realtrends.com\/blog\/2022\/01\/27\/two-formidable-indie-brokerages-in-new-england-merge\/","title":{"rendered":"Two formidable indie brokerages in New England merge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two independent real estate firms serving parts of New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont, <strong>Badger Realty<\/strong> and <strong>Peabody &amp; Smith Realty<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.badgerpeabodysmith.com\/about-badger-realty.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> Wednesday that they have merged to form a new brokerage, to be known as <strong>Badger Peabody &amp; Smith Realty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firm will work with buyers and sellers in Northern, Central, the White Mountains and Lakes Region of New Hampshire, as wells as the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and Western Maine, and will be led by Andy Smith, the former president of Peabody &amp; Smith Realty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been very deliberate and thoughtful for the last year as we really worked to bring the best of our two brands together,\u201d Smith said in a statement. \u201cFor us, this was a natural progression and we worked with everyone across both of our teams to best combine our strengths and merge our two brands and rebrand them as one solid firm \u2013 Badger Peabody &amp; Smith Realty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Badger Realty managing partner, Brenda Leavitt with continue at Badger Peabody &amp; Smith Realty in a senior advisor role through May. Leavitt began her career with Badger Realty over 40 years ago, eventually becoming partner with founding owner, Dick Badger. According to the press release, Badger Realty is the leading real estate firm in the greater Mount Washington Valley and western Maine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith the changes in the industry, it was important to the Badger family and me to ensure that the company has what\u2019s needed to stay at the forefront of the industry,\u201d Leavitt said in a statement. \u201cThe merger will enable us to offer more services and expand into new areas, all while keeping the same shared philosophies and values.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021, both firms took part in a combined 1,400 transactions throughout New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont, totaling over $447 million in gross sales across all property categories. The newly merged firm employs over 65 full-time agents, 21 staff members and has eight offices in Berlin, Bretton Woods, Franconia, Holderness, Jackson, Littleton, North Conway and Plymouth, NH. It also has a dedicated commercial real estate team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This announcement is the latest in a string of brokerage mergers and expansions seen so far this year.
